Puppyhood is a wonderful time for bonding, early socializing, training to avoid bad habits... and even a little fun.
A Basic Training. Training good behaviour early rather than allowing bad habits to ever begun to set roots simply allows your dog to understand much faster. Many owners do not think to start training behaviours such a potty training as soon as they get their puppy because they believe they are too young to understand, but that is simply not true. You attain a puppy typically about 8 weeks of age and they are more than capable of starting to understand the process! They do not know their place in this world yet and we must show them the way, even for potty time. Basic behaviour cues such as sit, down, leave it, drop it, look, come when called, self control/stay/wait/mat, crate training, greeting nicely, quiet on cue, etc is a sample of the basic cues that are taught in our puppy programs.
B Socialization. The start of your dog's life is extremely important to how they will behave & interact with the world as they grow into adults. Early introduction to socializing with dogs, humans, and ultimately the world they will come to know as their own is a crucial key to them becoming well adjusted, balanced dogs in your home and in your life. Lack of socialization is the number one cause for behaviour issues and it is fortunately very easily avoided. Separation anxiety, dog or human reactivity, fear aggression, nervousness, timidness, excessive barking, etc, all of these are behaviour issues that can be avoided. (Just because your puppy does not show these behaviours now does not mean they are immune to them in the future, we must socialize still.)
C Bite Inhibition. Bite inhibition is extremely important for every puppy to learn. This is how your dog understands the force of their bite and how to control it, ultimately so they are not hurting anyone thru puppy mouthing or any potential snapping later in life. This is something they would learn with their littermates naturally, so when we take them home from their littermates we become their teachers during play and handling, again another reason for socializing with other puppies and dogs.
All of this criteria and more is covered in our puppy programs, we would love to help your little one become a wonderful, healthy and happy member of the family!
